Data Centre / Computer Room Monitoring

Many IT failures are due to external factors such as computer room cooling malfunction, flood or physical intrusion.

Centrinet can provide 365/24 live monitoring of your computer room environment with a human response and predefined response plans – ensuring that threats are detected and responded to in the shorted possible time.

By adding IP cameras to a monitored system, our operators can give live information to your personnel or relevant third parties as an event unfolds, coupled with remote recording of images.

Getting started with monitoring requires a sensor device such as APC Netbotz, a broadband Internet connection and a subscription to Centrinet’s monitoring service. More complex sites can network multiple systems and monitor a vast array of environmental conditions including non-IT plant such as generators, air handlers and heavy plant.

Example of recent projects:

Data Centre environmental monitoring – Completed March 2008

Working with a UK based data centre provider, Centrinet installed and monitored a distributed network of 8 x APC Netbotz environmental monitoring stations around the facility to provide monitoring and warning of the following problems:

  • Temperature in hosting areas and common areas
  • Humidity in hosting areas and common areas
  • Operation of cooling plant and generators
  • Fuel leak detection in generator hall
  • Water detection in common areas (toilets / rest rooms)
  • Water detection in operational areas (water pumps, hosting floors etc.)

Combined with 24/7 live monitoring and a pre-defined response plan, Centrinet ensure maximum availability and minimum disruption should a problem occur.
