Monitoring
Monitoring lies at the core of INS. Using highly skilled technicians, automated systems, and direct reports, we will monitor your systems for availability and performance and react to incidents according to pre-defined response plans. All monitoring is carried out from our UK based, fully staffed network operations centre.
Monitoring data and reports are made available online or delivered on a scheduled basis to allow you to track availability, service provider SLAs and performance of third parties.
Examples of monitoring include:
- Basic availability of network components – how reliable is the component and / or connectivity to that component?
- Performance measurement – how quick is my transit / do I receive my contracted QoS?
- MOSS call scoring for VoIP devices
- Capacity management – are my devices operating within healthy limits, or is bandwidth too small / storage out of space / memory too low etc?
- Security monitoring – is someone attempting to compromise my network security?
- Reliability – used to spot trouble with equipment, cables and operating environments.
- Environmental – water ingress, smoke, temperature, intrusion etc.
Systems we currently monitor include:
- Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Cisco VoIP gateways and Unified Communications products
- Cisco WiFi access controllers and access points (including centralised, managed Radius for user authentication)
- APC Netbotz environmental monitoring devices
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Water (flood)
- Physical access / intrusion
- Smoke / fire
- Audio / noise levels (for detecting operation or failure of industrial plant)
- CCTV pictures of remote facilities
- IBM and HP server management controllers
- Any device capable of SNMP (for performance statistics)
- Any device capable of ICMP (for availability and uptime reporting)
