Who are Centrinet?
We are an IT network management company dedicated to protecting and maintaining our customers’ online infrastructure. Our managed network services care for clients in 73 countries worldwide, and support over 40,000 end user organisations. Founded in 1995 by Kelly Smith and Chris Brown, Centrinet has expanded to employ around 60 people at two locations in the UK and has a turnover of around £2.5 million.
Our expertise ranges from supporting small and medium companies with network security solutions, through to managing one of the world’s largest enterprise VPN systems.
In recognition of our abilities, in 2001 and 2002 we received the Excellence Award from Check Point for the most innovative implementation of their products worldwide. We are also one of only 30 companies worldwide to have achieved Check Point's Premier MSP (Managed Service Provider) status – of which only 6 are in the UK.
Working Environment and Systems
Open plan, bright and modern in design, our Lincoln office provides an excellent working environment. All PCs have dual-head LCD anti-glare screens, telephones are fitted with headsets and chairs have ergonomic design features. Our offices are fully air-conditioned, secure and have dedicated onsite car parking.
Onsite staff facilities include a dedicated rest room with full kitchen facilities and vending machines. Tea, coffee and filtered water are provided free of charge.
Operating from Windows workstations, our support technicians work with a variety of tools and programs. Microsoft Office is used extensively, together with various network management and helpdesk tools.
Culture
At all times professional, but never too formal, Centrinet prides itself on its dynamic team based culture, with many staff choosing to socialise outside of work. Openness and team working are strongly encouraged, and the company organises and pays for at least four team events per year (held at weekends). Over the last year our activities have included go-karting, paintballing, bowling and a summer BBQ!
Our company dress code is business casual.
Training & Development
All new team members are trained in the use of our systems in-house on a one to one basis. This is then followed by a period of mentoring by a more experienced colleague until the required proficiency is attained.
Career Progression
Internal promotion is a real possibility for team
players with the necessary technical aptitude and attitude to
customer service. In fact, most of our senior positions are filled by
people who have risen through the ranks.
Location / Lincoln - HQ
Our purpose-built HQ in Lincoln is the home of our operational support and administrative team.
Having outgrown our previous offices at Waterside South, Lincoln, we relocated to our new HQ in 2004. Owned by Centrinet, it provides a state-of the-art working environment including a modern open plan call centre with full air conditioning, rest facilities and a laboratory for testing new systems. We also enjoy dedicated staff car parking and easy access to the A46 Lincoln bypass.
Smartbunker
Smartbunker is our secure data centre (see www.smartbunker.com) – an ex NATO nuclear bunker boasting 30,000 square feet of space across three floors and located totally underground.
Business
Around 80% of our revenue comes from managing firewalls and Cisco networking equipment. We currently manage around 850 sites in 73 Countries, which in turn support around 40,000 downstream business customers (the 850 gateways are similar to ISP points of presence). All management, support and installations are coordinated from our Lincoln office.
The remaining 20% of our business consists of managed hosting and co-location services offered from the Smartbunker location.
