Kelly Smith

Co-founder and Managing Director

Kelly Smith - Co-founder & Managing Director

Kelly's job is to provide leadership, inspiration and direction by creating the conditions that allow the company's mission to succeed. This includes taking a lead on business development, strategic investment and operational efficiency.

Kelly's senior management experience has come from involvement with many high profile projects during his 20 years of working with information technology.

Kelly started his career as an in-house programmer for a leading insurance services provider. Over a period of 4 years, this role evolved into one of general management for operations within the same organisation, managing considerable change during a period of unprecedented growth.

In 1992, Kelly moved to a leading East Midlands software house to head up a new business unit geared towards customer acquisition. This lead to the establishment of a new secure communications division, which in its first year won contracts to deliver services to the UK Department of Trade and Industry.

Having identified opportunities for a new venture with business partner Chris Brown, Data Link Information Systems was established in 1995.

Since that time, Kelly has guided the company through to incorporation in 1999 and has provided commercial leadership to grow the company through the management and acquisition of strategic assets.

Chris Brown - Co-founder and Technical Director

Chris' job is to provide technical leadership, and to create the conditions which allow the company to remain at the leading edge in which ever markets it serves.

Chris' unique blend of deep technical expertise and commercial insight stems from nearly 20 years of providing innovative solutions to complex problems for leading organisations around the world.

Chris' career started as a freelance database programmer, and quickly progressed into the creation of complex, commercial systems for a leading East Midlands consultancy. His flair for telecoms and secure communication saw his skills in high demand and led to the successful completion of several notable, high profile projects for multi-national companies concerned with the global movement of commodity goods.

After forming Data Link Information Systems with business partner Kelly Smith in 1995, Chris took the lead technical role and guided the company through its transition from proprietary communications consultancy to an Internet security and management company, which resulted in the incorporation of Centrinet Limited in 1999.

Chris' technical leadership has ensured that Centrinet has the ability to deliver the innovations and technical flexibility required by an ever expanding portfolio of clients, and has resulted in the creation of a dedicated Research and Development team based in Lincoln.

Whilst concentrating on technical leadership, Chris is an active member of the Centrinet management team, and is instrumental in all areas of policy, direction and business development.
